Q. How to tell if the Mutual is a set or Shared Mutual?
A. To determine If it is a set mutual. Always check the hourly billing rate first.
To be clear two patients billing at the normal rate for example (7.06 per unit) has 2 schedules 9-1 the 1-5, each patient gets billed separately.
If the case is a shared mutual two patients get billed at the lower rate for example (3.53 per unit) for receiving service at the same time 9-3 for both patients.

Q: How do Mutual Visits work?
A: Shared Mutual: The caregiver will clock in/out on the PRIMARY patient ONLY at the start and end of their shift. Then each night during the overnight scripts run by Visiting Aid the clocked in /out visit will duplicate to the SECONDARY patient. Both clients will bill but the caregiver is paid off the PRIMARY client start / end times. Determining who is Primary / Secondary is up to the agency and then communicate to the caregiver which client to clock in and out of.
Set Mutual: The caregiver clocks in/out for the PRIMARY patient ONLY at the start of the primary's visit time and clocks out at the end of the secondary patient's time. Then each night during the overnight scripts run by Visiting Aid the clock in out time for the shift is split between the two patients based on their authorization. You will bill each client and the employee is paid for the time on each client.
